VI Peels in Houston, TX
Are there things about your skin that you spent hours trying to cover or wish you could change completely? If so, you may be interested in the VI Peel!
The VI Peel uses medical-grade chemical peels to treat a multitude of skin concerns, and it’s effective for all skin types and tones. As we age, our skin loses essential proteins to keep it healthy and youthful. The body’s production of collagen and elastin diminish by 1 to 2% every year, which doesn’t seem like much in the grand scheme of things, but even the smallest decrease can make signs of aging or pigmentation worse every year. While aging is inevitable, and nothing can stop the clock completely, the VI Peel can rejuvenate aging skin and help protect it from future damage, resulting in a more youthful, radiant complexion.

What Conditions Do VI Peels Improve?
VI Peels can help improve a wide variety of skin concerns and flaws. When done by a professional, VI peels can help:
- smooth fine lines and wrinkles
- diminish age spots and hyperpigmentation
- soften rough, dry skin texture
- repair acne and acne scars
- calm redness from rosacea
- reduce the appearance of enlarged pores
- improve the overall health of your skin
How DO VI Peels Work?
The purpose of the VI Peel is to safely exfoliate the removed, damaged layers of skin to improve the appearance of the epidermis. The VI Peel uses a custom blend of trichloroacetic acid, tretinoic acid, salicylic acid, phenol, and vitamin C to promote cellular turnover and rejuvenate the skin’s surface layer.
Salicylic acid— Salicylic acid is a powerful agent used to exfoliate the skin and cleanse the pores of debris and bacteria. Dermatologists and estheticians widely use this acid in many different skincare and cosmetic products because of its ability to reduce mild breakouts of whiteheads and blackheads and prevent future breakouts.
Retinoic Acid— Retinoid acid is a derivative of Vitamin A, which helps to stimulate the growth and differentiation of skin cells, resulting in reduced acne, inflammation, and oil production.
Vitamin C— The best ingredient for brightening the skin is vitamin C. It helps to counter the damaging effects of UV rays and free radicals, reduces pigmentation, and improves the appearance of the skin. In addition, its collagen-production properties are essential for plumping aged skin and smoothing over lines and wrinkles.
After the VI peel is applied to your skin, you will be free to return to regular activities. The peel must be kept on your skin for at least 4 hours before being washed off. Dr. Deborah Miller or PA-C Shauna McLaughlin will provide detailed at-home instructions on how to care for your skin after your treatment.
Types of Peels Offered at M Spa Face & Body
At M Spa Face & Body, we offer two different Vi Peels. One for patients just starting their journey with chemical peels and needing something gentler, and one for patients with more severe signs of skin damage. We offer both as single treatments, but for patients with more severe signs of aging and skin damage, we recommend a series of three treatments spaced four weeks apart. For those interested in the series of treatments, we offer a discount on the package price.
At M Spa, the Vi Peels we offer include:
Vi Original
The Vi Original Peel is the perfect first-time peel for all age groups and skin types seeking to tighten the appearance of their skin, smooth texture, and enhance vitality. The original Vi Peel is a medium-depth peel that contains a synergistic blend of skin rejuvenating ingredients that restore a more even skin tone, smooth away rough patches of skin, reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and reduce the appearance of keratosis pilaris.
Vi Precision Plus
Our Vi Precision Plus peel is a medium-depth peel that combats pigmentation with its Lighten Booster and fast-acting Brightening Booster. This powerful combination effectively exfoliates and helps diminish pigmentation and textural damage, penetrates damaged areas, suppresses melanogenesis, and promotes rapid cell turnover for improved skin tone.
Melanage Peel
Sunshine can feel wonderful on the skin, but over time you may find yourself dealing with skin issues like uneven skin tone, pigmentation issues, or melasma. A Melanage chemical peel offers a unique and effective approach to improving superficial and medium depth melasma. This unique blend of ingredients creates the perfect skin brightening system that was designed to improve skin texture and the appearance of hyper-pigmentation using a medical-grade mask applied at our M Spa Face & Body office in Houston, TX.
After your in-office service, you’ll be sent home with detailed instructions on how to maintain an at-home regimen and continue the healing and benefits of your Melanage Peel. After following the at-home routine, you’ll return to our office for a follow-up appointment. During this time, your aesthetician will review your results and make sure you’re satisfied with your overall experience.
SkinMedica Illuminize Peel®
The Illuminize Peel® from SkinMedica® is the gentlest chemical peel offered by the SkinMedica brand, making it a fantastic option for first-time chemical peel patients, patients with mild skin imperfections, or patients looking for a gentle refresh to brighten and even their complexion. The Illuminize Peel® is a chemical peel that includes a combination of salicylic acid, mandolin acid, resorcinol, malic acid, and phytic acid. This combination of gentle yet effective chemical exfoliants helps to illuminate the overall appearance of your skin.
One of our facial aesthetic experts at M Spa Face & Body will administer your Illuminize Peel® and let it sit on your skin for about 45 minutes, allowing it to rapidly turn over skin cells and exfoliate the outermost layer of your skin. Due to its gentle nature, this chemical peel option is safe for all skin types and tones.
What Are the Benefits of a Vi Peel?

Reducing Acne and Acne Scars
Our Vi Peels pack a powerful punch against bacteria and debris that clog pores and cause acne, helping treat irritation and discoloration, and lessening the scars acne can leave behind. In addition, our peels smooth skin texture, brighten dark areas, soothe inflammation, and increase the body’s collagen production to reform depressed or pitted acne scars.
Erase Sunspots, Age Spots, and Hyperpigmentation
The synergetic blend of complex ingredients in the Vi Original and Vi Precision Plus peels are ideal for brightening skin, diminishing the appearance of sunspots and age spots, and leaving the skin with a vibrant glow.
Smooth Fine Lines and Wrinkles
The unique combination of acids and exfoliants penetrates the skin’s layers, causing a resurfacing process that stimulates new cell production, including collagen and elastin, for smoother, firmer, more youthful skin.
What To Expect from A Vi Peel at M Spa Face & Body
When it comes to chemical peels, the Vi Peel is considered non-invasive, and most patients report that it is painless. Some patients experience a mild tingling but nothing too uncomfortable. Treatments are also rapid, requiring only 30 minutes to an hour from start to finish. All Vi Peels are performed in-office at our clinic, where we will lead you into one of our comfortable rooms and begin prepping your skin. Your treatment will begin by thoroughly cleansing your skin of all makeup, oils, skincare, and debris. Once it’s fully prepped, one of our highly trained Aestheticians or Medical Assistants will apply your Vi Peel while you relax comfortably. The peel will be allowed to sit on your skin for several minutes so that we can monitor for any adverse reactions and perform multiple passes of the product for maximum results. Once your skin has dried entirely, you will be sent home with detailed instructions to wash the peel off your face in 4 hours and post op kit on how to properly care for your skin during the healing process.
Vi Peel Recovery
While chemical peels are considered non-invasive and have short recovery times, it is common to experience moderate to severe peeling typically starting on day 3 and lasting up to day 7. Most Chemical peel turnaround times are 7 days start to finish. This is an essential part of your treatment. The top layer of skin slowly sheds away impurities and improves the appearance of your complexion. It’s important not to pick, or scratch your skin that is peeling during this process to avoid scaring and hyper or hypopigmentation. Instead, allow the dead skin to fall away naturally while keeping your skin well-hydrated with an approved moisturizer and protected with approved sunscreen. If you need recommendations for skin care to help expedite the healing process and keep your skin protected, speak with the staff performing your treatment. They will happily assist you in finding products to boost your skin’s recovery and results.
